SYDNEY

It has been a while since i last posted. I went to Sydney a couple of days ago it was really a last minute decision.. thanks for my mates who let me join them even though i initially had turned down the invite... It was really a trip to remember... too many to write on, or i rather list em down...
1. I sit on the wrong seat in the train but realized it before the passenger come in..
2. The backpackers' hostel which we stayed in is called 'asylum'
3. We met a Fiji uncle who was really speculative about..well, everything that he talked about that day...
4. Sydney Opera house is cool.
5. I had a fight with a ticket seller at a ferry ticket counter after he assaulted me with his word. I was surprised with myself... never thought that i could be really outspoken and have so much guts to burst out like that in front of an Australian.. i suppose i was really hungry too..I guess, the saying is true.. a hungry man is an angry man.. we were having a problem finding a halal food. it worth to narrate the story i suppose... My friend and I bought ferry tickets from a ticket machine.. but it turned out that the machine did not give out enough change.. so by any chance, we still gotta line up for the counter... my friend who was short 18 AUD went first and thing went well when the ticket guy returned the change for her... then came my turn.. the conversation was something like below;
me: hi, same thing happen to both of us.. (referring to my other friend who is short 8 AUD and me who short 4 AUD)
tix guy: what the f*%# with u guys!!!
my friend: it's not our fault
me: it's not our fault (said in an amplified version since the tix guy seems so deaf)
tix guy: u..**%$&*%* f*&&%$#$%& f&6%$##%^ ( seriously, neither of me or my friends really catch his words..all i could hear is a series of 'f' words repetitively spoken)
me: FINE!!! I don't care!!! (with a hand waving up to the sky and frowning brows.. i walked a way from the queue..i think, i said it pretty loud too)
It was quite a long queue behind me and i had sorta drawn an attention.. owh.. God! It wasn't really my inttention to burst out my anger and i seriously wasn't really angry.. (we really had a good laugh after that) but that was like the worst service i ever received since i'm in Australia... It is totally unacceptable to be cursed when i was just claiming for my right... I felt really guilty though, it's okay for me not to get my 4AUD back.. but my friend, she also lost her 8AUD... but we were lucky.. An asian guy, i suppose a technician then came up to fix the machine... there were more other people who had the same probs like us... we went to him and got our change.. anyway, i felt so satisfy that i could complained about the tix guy to that kind technician uncle.. huhu...
6. We visited a chinese garden.. the beauty is breathtaking... I'll never forget it for the rest of my life...
7. We ate at an Uhgyur Restaurant for the first time and find out that these Ughyur people do look a lil bit like malays...
8. Owh.. a korean aunt came up and spoke korean to me... OOoooH!
9. Bondi beach is not as large as it is seen on the tv.. But, it is indeed.. beautiful!
10. Crows can sometimes be so funny...
They say, a picture is worth a thousand words.. i place a photo here...so that it could describe the rest of my feelings...

To my dear friends.. komapta for the good times... and... Melbourne is still the best! heee...

Transition

Sometimes I wonder if I would still blog after I go back for good since it always turns out that I don’t really blog whenever I return to Malaysia. I’m back in Melbourne again. Despite everything I said about this place. I'm always thankful that I’m studying here. 8 hours is long enough, can’t imagine going further. Let alone going back during a short winter break like I just did. Haha… However, regardless how good Melbourne is, coming back here is never easy. It is not the place, it’s the transition. Travelling is tiring. Yes, like yesterday, I had to take two flights, one from Penang to KL, then KL to Melb, it is a lot more tiring for someone like me who could barely sleep in a plane. That’s why I enjoy traveling during the day and taking a window seat. I enjoy day dreaming while staring at those fluffy white clouds. Haha.. Weather change changes everything. I had never went back during winter before. So that was my first time experiencing an abrupt change from a...

Creepy Me in my Poems

For the first time in my architecture-life, I'm bringing my poems into architecture. What's more interesting is, I use my poems in their original form, by this I mean, in Malay language. Now everybody in my class knows how Malay language sounds like. ahaha... The project is pretty much investigating the space between poems. The atmosphere of hearing two poems recited simultaneously. Sounds that make space, space that's defined by sound. Seriously, I don't really know how it'll work out... but hey, just having some experimentation with stuff a bit off-architecture... a break from my headache major project. Plus, I kinda enjoy making people listen to my poems without expecting them to understand a word... rather then, reciting to a bunch of people who understand but couldn't 'appreciate' them... and yeah, I receive some flattering comments from 'mat-salleh' course mate like... "when something is well written, even you can't understand it.....

Against all odds...

I haven't written about school in here for moons... So, I have a couple of things to share... To begin with, I'm currently doing a design studio called Woven... The studio is basically about making beautiful building.. well, it does sound very general.. Every studio sort of has that intention... Anyway, but the different is, what is behind the design.. I mean, the driving idea... because it could be, the site, programs, occupants etc..etc... but for this studio.. It focuses more on the structure... How does the structure influence the design in making it a good and beautiful building... It's about the relationship between the structure and ornaments.... does structure itself serve as the decorative element of the building.. or is it traditional and the decorations stay independent from the structure... It is a decision to be made... Initially, I was really excited about the idea of making the structure ornamented and beautiful.. so instead of serving as structure, it could...
